Awards at H.E.S.

Harrisville Elementary School is proud to announce academic award winners from each class. An awards ceremony is held every six weeks. Although there are only two award winners per class each six weeks, there are many students who qualify for these awards. Sometimes this is a difficult decision for teachers to make. Our monthly awards are: Excellence, Super Student, and G.A.T.O.R.   Excellence winners are given a special lunch period to eat and play games.  Super Students each receive a book.  G.A.T.O.R. winners each receive a special school t-shirt.

Students who maintain a perfect attendance record for the six weeks period will receive a gold dollar.  Also, two students are randomly selected from all students who miss no more than one day during a six week period.  These two students receive a "surprise" package of supplies.

School Award Criteria:

Excellence Award  Student must exhibit the following:

1.  Excellent organizational skills
2.  Excellent study habits
3.  Excellent grades in all core content areas
4.  Excellent school conduct demonstrating respect and  courtesy      towards others.
5.  Involved in school activities

Super Student Student must exhibit the following:

1.  He/She tries his/her best in all subjects
2.  Shows progress from one grading period to another
3.  Working to improve organizational skills
4.  Working to improve study habits and conduct
5.  Obeys school rules
6.  Respects authority
7.  Respectful of his/her own, as well as other’s, property
8.  Gets along well with classmates
9.  Courteous

G.A.T.O.R. Grades, Attitude, Teamwork, Organization, Responsibility

1.  Outstanding achievement in all subject areas
2.  Outstanding citizenship
3.  Well-rounded in all areas
4.  Referred to as a “model” student
