Harrisville Elementary is a public elementary school located in Harrisville, West Virginia, in the Ritchie County School District. Our school serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.

School Profile

School History

Harrisville Elementary School

Our school was opened in 1964. Prior to the opening of our current facility, H.E.S. was housed in what later was used as the Ritchie County Board of Education offices. Over one hundred years old, it currently is the General Thomas Harris Museum.

Our school has had several additions as enrollment needs warranted more classrooms. With the addition of full-time Pre-Kindergarten several years ago, and the need for more space, our latest addition was a portable classroom building.

Visitor Information

All visitors are required to check in at the school office which is located just inside the main entrance on the left. In consideration of student safety, parents are asked to leave students at the right entrance to the gymnasium in the mornings. Teachers on bus duty will be there to supervise the children. Also, students who want to eat breakfast should be at school by 7:45 a.m., unless they are riding a bus that arrives later. Parents who wish to pick their students up after school may do so at 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. If you need to pick your child up prior to this time, you must sign him/her out in the office.

Parking is very limited. All numbered parking spaces are assigned to faculty and staff members. At no time is parking permitted on the bus circle, for safety reasons. Visitors are asked to park in unnumbered areas, or for limited times, in the back row of the grocery store lot closest to our school.
