Hi!
Thank you for visiting my website! I am a kindergarten
teacher at Harrisville Elementary School, a National Blue
Ribbon School, in Harrisville, West
Virginia. This is my
32nd year of teaching! I
currently teach kindergarten but I have also taught first,
second, and third grades.
I am a
graduate of Glenville State
College with an AB in Elementary Education NK-6. I
have a Masters Degree from West
Virginia University in Communication Studies.
I belong to the West Virginia Federation of
Teachers and American
Federation of Teachers, West Virginia
University at Parkersburg's Professional Development Schools
Partnership, and our school parent-teacher
organization. I currently serve on the Ritchie
County Relay For Life executive
committee.
I am
married to Bill, a former science and math teacher and technology coordinator
who is now retired. We
have one daughter, Amanda, a graduate of Muskingum College.
She works in customer service for a magnet manufacturing
company. We have a Yorkshire Terrier named Angelina. In my free time I like to shop for antiques,
travel, surf the Internet and do hand weaving. I am also enjoying learning how to develop a
webpage!

I was
surprised on September 15, 1998, to be named a Milken National Educator
award recipient. It was such an honor to be recognized
by the Milken Family Foundation for doing a job that I truly
love. Please take a moment to visit the Milken Family Foundation National
Educator website!

Ironically
enough, five years later, September 15 became a day that would
change my life forever. I was diagnosed with
ovarian cancer. After four treatments of chemotherapy
and four months away from my classroom, I am happy to say that
I am doing well.
I am among the lucky ones who have been given a second
chance! To learn more about the symptoms of a cancer
known as the "Silent Killer," please click
here.
I have become an
active participate in Relay For Life, serving on the
Ritchie County
Relay For Life executive committee, and as captain of
Harrisville Elementary's Relay For Life Team.
Celebrate!!!
I am now eight years beyond my diagnosis and and thrilled and
blessed to be cancer free!
